Community & Business Partner Spotlight: Collette Tours

There aren’t many organizations with the mindset that Collette has. Over the past 100 years, the company has grown from a small New England tour operator to a global powerhouse, now under the leadership of Dan Sullivan and the Sullivan family. The 3rd generation, family owned business has expanded, and transformed into the international brand that it is today, but their values never wavered, from personal customer service and convenience, to their focus on giving back.

Collette’s focus has always been about providing incredible experiences to travelers looking to explore places all over the world. A goal made that much easier by having offices in the United States, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, and over 600 employees. From mountain ranges that stretch as far as you can see, to incredible sunsets over cities long since lost to history and time, to spending quality time with people and food of incredible cultures other than your own, Collette stands as a stark reminder of the joys that life is all about.

“We’ve spent the last 100 years bringing people all over the world and along the way we’ve learned that travel isn’t about the places we go – it’s about the reasons for going,” said CEO Dan Sullivan Jr. “We’ve seen the life-changing role that travel plays and, likewise, we’ve recognized the role that we can play as a company in giving back wherever possible.”

The celebration doesn’t end there, either. Collette is hosting hundreds of travel vendors, agents and partners at a conference this summer in Rhode Island as part of their anniversary. We are looking forward to shining a light on Pawtucket, the Blackstone Valley and Rhode Island.

Collette is no stranger to the travel industry. Dan Sullivan recently received a lifetime achievement award from Travel Weekly and the company received the Hearts of Travel Award by Tourism Cares for long-term excellence in corporate giving.

Collette is conscious of the needs of the world around them. One Million Meals is a charitable event put into action by Collette three years ago, and the effort continues even stronger today. Partnerships with organizations like Edesia Nutrition and Rise Against Hunger have led to events where upwards of 50,000 meals a day were packed and shipped. Collette also supports local charities, such as the soup kitchen, mentorship programs, Boys & Girls Club and many others.

Collette has been a point of pride for the City of Pawtucket for the last one-hundred years. Their offices in Pawtucket greet visitors entering into Rhode Island from the north. With a beautifully redone mill complex on the river, they continue to be wonderful partners in moving Pawtucket forward. With the great work they’ve consistently provided along with unyielding support from all over the world, we look forward to celebrating another milestone in the next century.

“We are extremely proud that Collette calls Pawtucket home. From a small family company to an internationally known business, there success is due to their commitment, forward thinking and customer experience,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “Here at home in Pawtucket, the Sullivan’s and the Collette team our great partners in moving our great city forward, from their charitable giving to projects like the bike path, they are always willing to step-up.”
