Congratulations to the Sixteen Students Awarded the Mayor’s Scholarship

Pawtucket – Mayor Donald R. Grebien, the Pawtucket City Council, and the Pawtucket School Committee, and the Pawtucket School Department congratulate the sixteen high school seniors and college students who have been awarded with the Mayor’s Scholarship.

“Congratulations to all sixteen students who have been awarded the Mayor’s Scholarship! The City is pleased to continue this program in its second year,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “I thank Bristol County Savings and Southern Sky for their extreme kindness and dedication toward our students. I also thank the Commission, City Council, and School Department for their assistance throughout the creation and selection process as we assist our city’s youth.”

The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation generously donated $20,000 to the City that has allowed the scholarship program to launch.

“After supporting the launch of the program with six scholarships last year, the Bank is proud to recognize the 16 deserving students who have been selected for the Mayor’s Scholarship in 2020," said Patrick Murray, President & CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank and President of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation. “During these times that test our communities, we are especially grateful to have the opportunity to assist these driven young people in their pursuit of higher education and future leadership roles in our society.”

After a successful inaugural year in which six Pawtucket students were awarded $1,000, the Scholarship Program, sixteen students were assisted for the 2020-2021 academic school year.
