Local Spotlight- Mill at 545

Pawtucket’s rich history of manufacturing in cotton and textiles set the stage for the Industrial Revolution and now Pawtucket’s evolution has made it the perfect location for creativity in the arts and small business growth.

Walk the halls of the Mill at 545 on any given day and you are welcomed by sights and smells of a tropical paradise, the sounds of music from a dance studio and the buzz of a design studio.

Established in 1880, the Mill at 545 located at 545 Pawtucket Avenue is home to many small businesses. Businesses such as GLAD WORKS, Jordan’s Jungle, Foundation Performance Sports Therapy, Kindred Community Acupuncture, Breathing Time Yoga, Cornerstone Sign & Design and more make an eclectic mix of occupants and a hub of economic activity.

“Complexes like the Mill at 545 and their occupants create hundreds of jobs and tax revenue to the city each year and add to our vibrant arts culture,” said Mayor Grebien.

The support the City of Pawtucket gives small businesses at this mill and others throughout the City acts as a lure for people living outside of the city, and even the state. These entrepreneurs and artists are thriving in the mill environment and much like the trailblazers during the Industrial Revolution, the studios are filled with innovation and forward thinking.

The next time you hear a catchy tagline, see a prima ballerina or are given a tropical plant, it might just be the product of the Mill at 545.
