Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Grand Opening of RI Spirits

PAWTUCKET – Rhode Island Spirits, the state’s newest distillery, will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate its grand opening on June 7, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Rhode Island Spirit’s riverside location and range of gins, vodkas, and liqueurs have already made it an attraction for visitors and residents of the city, and its products will soon be available in stores and restaurants statewide.

Owners Cathy Plourde & Kara Larson worked with Pawtucket's Economic Development staff when looking for a location, and received assistance from the Pawtucket Business Development Corporation loan program. With a further commercial loan from Navigant Credit Union, they were able to renovate a mill space at 59 Blackstone Ave., and opened their doors in March.

“We couldn't have wished for a better place to open our business than Pawtucket,” said Larson. “We've had significant moral support and practical assistance from everyone at City Hall from Mayor Grebien through the staff in all departments. As Pawtucket residents, we were thrilled to be able to open our new business in the city we live in and want to help grow.”

Rhode Island Spirits Distillery & Tasting Room is located at the riverside in downtown Pawtucket near Tolman High School and the Armory Arts Center. Inspired by the hardworking river that defines the region, Rhode Island Spirits features locally grown and foraged botanicals from the Blackstone Valley combined with organic spirits, crafting a range of gins, vodkas, and liqueurs that could come from nowhere else.
