Beginning December 14 until Schools are Back in Session
Pawtucket – The City continues to make sure it is in compliance with State Law in regard to the School Zone Cameras. Since Pawtucket Schools will be fully distance learning beginning on December 14, the Traffic Camera Safety Program’s speed cameras will not be in effect.
“The safety of our children, teachers, and families is of utmost importance,” said Acting Public Safety Director and Police Chief Tina Goncalves. “It is important that everyone continue to drive safely as most of our schools are located in neighborhoods.”
Speed cameras, in compliance with State Law, had been operational only in the school zones where schools were back in session. The program will once again be in affect once schools are back in session.
###
NOTE: There are currently Pre-K, Kindergarten, Special Populations, and multilingual learners at all of the schools, including the middle and high schools. Therefore, the cameras are in effect.
