PAWTUCKET MAYOR DONALD GREBIEN TO HOST INAUGURAL MAYORAL RUN OF GLORIA GEMMA’S PINK PUMP PALOOZA

Mayor Donald R. Grebien has agreed to host the first ever Mayoral Run of the Gloria Gemma’s Pink Pump Palooza on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in Downtown Providence. The Pink Pump Palooza is a fifty-yard dash in pink high heels that Mayor Grebien is challenging his fellow politicians and city/state administrators to take part in this worthwhile fundraiser. Gloria Gemma is a private nonprofit that is committed to celebrating the lives of those touched by breast cancer, in the greater Rhode Island area.

Mayor Grebien when speaking about the event said, “I’m honored to be asked to host the very first Mayoral Run for the Pawtucket-based Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation.” He went on to say “Many of us know someone who has been touched by breast cancer and if it takes me running in pink high heel pumps for 50 yards to raise money for this dreaded disease, then sign me up. I urge all mayors and municipal chief executives throughout Rhode Island to join me.”

Following the Mayoral Run at 10:00 am on October 2, 2016 the public may also join in the Pink Pump Palooza Challenge with a Women’s 50-yard dash at 10:15 a.m. and ending with a Men’s 50-yard dash at 10:30. An awards ceremony will take place at 10:45 a.m.

“Let my competitors be on notice that my coach, better known as my wife Laureen, already has me practicing for the run and it is an event that I intend to win.” Grebien said. “So join us on October 2, 2016, and support the Gloria Gemma Resource Foundation to help eradicate breast cancer forever.”
