The Zoning and Code Enforcement Office is responsible for enforcing the state building and housing codes, and the city's zoning and other ordinances. They issue all building, plumbing/mechanical and electrical permits and perform all inspections on these matters. They also issue all certificates of zoning compliance and occupancy permits.

Code:
The City is mandated to adopt the state building code.

Permits:
Permits can be obtained between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday and Friday.
Call for permit fee schedule.

Abandoned Vehicles:
City ordinance prohibits certain vehicles from being parked or stored on public or private property.

Absentee Landlords:
Any person who does not reside at the property they own is defined as an absentee landlord and must register themselves with the division.

Board of Appeals:
The Board meets the last Monday of the month in City Council Chambers at 6:30 PM.
The Board votes on the first Monday of the month in City Council Chambers at 6:30 PM.

Certificates of Occupancy and Certificates of Zoning Compliance can be obtained for the Division of Zoning and Code Enforcement by calling 728-0500 ext. 347

Permits are required for most work being done on a property including repairs to the building, plumbing, electrical or mechanical systems. A late fee of $250.00 is assessed if work is being done without the required permit. Contact the Division of Zoning & Code Enforcement for information or to report violators.
